Money for College, Not War
As a parent who is sending a daughter through college, it seems that a a couple of days of war funding could go for more extensive scholarships for young people. Then they would not have to sign up for the military and war and have to kill people to gain money for college. Also, for 50 minutes of war, Chicago could build 5 early childhood education centers in the Latino community. They are severely needed and would help put kids on the right path to learning at an early age.

700 million a day would not only pay for a lot of scholarships, one of those days would amply finance the establishment of a major modern university in the arab world. In addition, funding could be donor matched by some of the oil sheikdoms.
And with this kind of bankroll, top academic talent could be attracted and high standards could be set at the outset.
Several major modern world-class academic centers in the arab world would go a long way toward defusing the tensions and opening a better future for the peoples of the mideast.
